Katana™ STML Zirconia

The Katana Super Translucent Multi Layered (STML) zirconia is our standard in full contour zirconia restorations. For years, Katana has been a gold standard in the industry for zirconia crowns and bridges. This material combines strength (748 MPa) and translucency (38%) for a natural esthetic look and gives us the ability to provide an outstanding fit for digital restorations. Indications are for crowns, 2-3 unit bridges, veneers, inlays and onlays. Unless otherwise specified on your prescription, this is our default material for these types of restorations. Use the prep guide here for minimum thickness requirements.

3M™ Lava™ Esthetic Zirconia

The 3M Lava Esthetic Zirconia is our standard zirconia used for all B1 and Bleach shade full contour crowns, 2-3 unit bridges, veneers, inlays and onlays. We use this zirconia for these shades only due to its inherent tooth-like fluorescence which provides for superior shading on these lighter shades. This zirconia blends strength (800 MPa) and fluorescence for a beautiful esthetic look and fantastic fit. Please see prep guide here for ideal preparation and minimum thickness requirements

Zirlux® 16+ Zirconia

The Zirlux 16+ zirconia is our highest strength zirconia. We have chosen this zirconia because of the success we have seen in solving the strength issues that arise for large-span bridges. At 1,100 MPa flexural strength and a high translucency (>44% at 1mm thickness), this material is an excellent choice for restorations that require more durability but still maintain translucency so be sure to also indicate you would like this material if the patient is a heavy bruxer. This is not a multi layered zirconia so it may appear slightly more monochromatic than our higher esthetic zirconias but this is necessary to achieve such high strength. See Zirlux prep guide for preparation requirements and minimum thickness.

IPS e.max® CAD

IPS e.Max CAD has a proven track record of reliability and success for monolithic restorations. With 530 MPa flexural strength and amazing light properties, it is a highly esthetic, reliable and versatile lithium disilicate glass-ceramic material perfect for anterior crowns and veneers. For success with this material, it is very important to stick to the guidelines in the IPS e.Max CAD prep guide here.
